Kristie,

There is really no reason to be overly concerned about a hernia unless it is incarcerated...meaning having bowel trapped in it. Often bowel does go through a hernia, but it is not considered incarcerated unless it is trapped there. I have had a hernia the size of a football surrounding my urostomy since 1998. I do have pain in that vicinity, but since it is not causing an obstruction I can and have lived with it. No since putting yourself further at risk, unless you absolutely have to. Of course, this is my personal opinion and my experience. You need to be able to make your decision based on what you know about yourself.

I have a hernia next to my belly button. I just went and saw a highly regarded specialist on pelvic pain and adhesions. He didn't seem to be bothered by it. Can I get some opinions please? It is because it sits high and my pain in low in the groin? thanks Kristie
