It was not difficult to travel to Pennsylvania for the surgery. I flew from Grand Rapids to Cincinnati and from Cincinnati to Wilkes Barre. On the way back, the airline had a wheelchair to get me from plane to plane.
I flew in two days before surgery. I had pre-op appointments the day before. I spent one night in the hospital after the surgery. I spent another day and night resting in a hotel room. I flew home the next day. The doctors kept in contact with me to be sure that there were no complications. The pain medication kept me comfortable throughout.
It was definitely worth the inconvenience.
