Hi, my name is Deborah and 36 (soon to be 37 - ouch) and have been suffering from adhesions since I was 18. I have had numerous surgeries, the last was a total abdominal hysterectomy the summer of 2002. The hysterectomy made things so much worse, as we all know it does. Anyway I have been seeing a pain management specialist and have been taking oxycontin 40mg 2x per day and percocet 10/325 3x per day for breakthrough pain. On August 18th I had what they call a hypogastric plexus block with x-ray done. This is similar to trigger point injections. He did inject me with lidocane and a steroid in the base of my spine. This is to numb and trick the nerves into thinking there is no pain. Well it worked for 36 hours, not bad. I just had it done again on October 1st, he increased the medication and so far I have had almost no pain for 48 hours. I am scheduled to have it done again on October 31st. I had no side effects from this and as you can see I have gotten some relief. He is hoping that if he keeps doing it (I can only have it done like 3-5 times in a year) that I may get a longer period of relief. I have tried almost everything there is to relieve my pain. At this time I will not have surgery again unless it is an emergency. You never know, it could help, it won't make it any worse, we all react differently to procedures, it could be worth a try. Hope this information helps you. please feel free to contact me privately if you would like to discuss this or anything else privately. I can be reached at office@steenbekes.com.

Wishing you and all my ARD friends pain free days.

Deborah, NH
