Dear Julie, The product your Dr will be using sounds like Seprafilm. I had this surgery a couple of years ago. It did help some for me, but each person is different. I too suffered from migraines & found that the pain meds I took for adhesion pain helped to keep most of the migraines away. This surgery will be done by cutting you from your belly button down. It will take a while to recouperate, but since you had open abdominal hysterectomy, you will be facing about the same thing. It is normal to be scared before surgery.
