Robin, Hang in there, you will make it although it may seem impossible at this point. I had my hip revised (re-replaced) twice in 3 months time so I know how you feel. It is rough, but somehow we make it through it.

I also deal with adhesion problems, vascular problems, carpal tunnel, ulcer, and much more. Now I have also developed a very painful, red, swollen big toe and don't know why. This really scares me to death due to my circulation problems. Don't think I can handle amputation!!

I see a foot doctor tomorrow because I am told even a simple ingrown toe nail can become gangrene and require amputation with people who have circulation problems (don't appear to be in-grown). I do have 2 blocked veins and a calcified artery so I pray another one hasn't blocked now causing this new problem.

I do have a 15" incision from my hip surgery but some doctors now do the surgery with tiny incisions so it may be worth you checking into. I also have lots of abdominal incisions and other places as well, kinda get use to them after awhile! There is a support Group for hip replacements (they also have allot who had resurfacing done which post-pones the need for a replacement). The web address is http://www.totallyhip.org.

You didn't mention what your hip surgery is for so if I am off-base I apologize, just assumed you are getting a replacement.

Take Care and good luck! If you need someone to talk to there are lots of people on the board who care. You may also email me if you like. JEAN (from PA)
