Hi Deborah, I'm also going to pain managrment. They tried what they call celiac plexus block. I don't know if it is similair, sounds like it.What I had done, they go to an area near the spine to make the injection. I found mine did help my upper ab pain,a little, but my worst pain is in my pelvis. It didn't help enough to make me want to do something more permanate. It is my understanding that they do 2 trial runs, to see if you get any relief, if you do, they do it with something that will last alot longer. It wasn't a terribly hard procedure, it does hurt though. My back was a little sore for a few days, but I think that would be okay, if it works! I was willing to give it a shot, if it meant I could get away from my meds... so, I'd say give it a shot, if you are comfortable with it! My opinion... Hope that helps, Lisa

My pain meds are not helping too much and the doctor doesn't want to increase my narcotic intake due to my depression. I tend to swell in the abdomen and it looks like I am 3-4 months pregnant. They have scheduled me to have a hypogastric plexus block with x-ray done on Monday. Has anyone had this done? They will be injecting me in my spine with a steroid to see if they can get the inflammation down to help manage my pain. I would really appreciate some feedback. I don't want to do this if it isn't really going to help. If you have tried this please let me know. Also if you have were there any side effect. I have been suffering for 16 years from adhesion pain and do not want to have another surgery just yet. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
