When I was pregnant with my son, I had a pretty complicated pregnancy...due
to my adhesions and my insides being "like a cement block". At the time I
wasn't aware of how bad my adhesions were since I'd never been opened up since my
first surgery at age 13. I only gained 6-1/2 lbs. although my son weighed 7
lbs. 4 oz. , this was because there wasn't much room for him to grow. I threw
up constantly and was hospitalized three separate times for dehydration.
About two weeks before my due date I had a dehydration spell and had lost 5 lbs.,
my doctor said enough....I don't think I was dialated more than 1/2 centimeter
yet because this was April 24th and I wasn't due until May 6th. They broke
my water with what I think looked like a crochet hook, then did the pertocin
drip, I delivered 9 hours later. It was only after my surgery when my son was
about a year old that they discovered how bad my adhesions were and
unfortunately, still are.
