Thats not a dumb question. A pain clinic is usually ran by an internist
that has recieved more training with regards to pain medications.
I have found my doctor belongs to the American Borad of Pain Managments.
You can go to their website at http://www.abpm.org. There you can find the
list of diplomats. And see if a doctor is near you. That is just one
way. You can ask your PCP to find you a pain clinic. He treats me with
large doses of a narcotic...and I have pills for breakthrough pain. If
I don't take them, I am pretty much bed ridden. I am habituated to
them. I don't like taking them, but I have never taken one pill without
the need to take it for pain. Not just running away.
This is the only way I can function.
I hope this helps.
