Hi Maria, Yes, Melissa had minimal invasive surgery........and Dr. Kruschinski uses scissors, not laser, to preform the adhesiolysis. He showed us the tools he would be using for Melissa's surgery during our office visit with him prior to surgery. He uses the AbdoLift system instead of CO2.......this unique way to open the abdomen for surgery does away with the risk factor of adhesion formation that comes from the usage of CO2................... CO2 also cause cell death and is much of the reason a person needs pain medication for an extended time period after surgery. My daughter had adhesions removed all through the large and small bowel, on her stomach, diaphragm, liver, and pelvic areas, however she required very little pain medication! The third day after her surgery we walked downtown and had lunch..........she was only SORE from surgery, not in pain from surgery. It was quite different from surgery in the US. I am so glad to share with others the hope of being free of adhesion pain! I am on cloud nine, ten, eleven..........lol.........now that I have my beautiful daughter back...........it is like a re-birth!! She had been in bed for fourteen years, watching the world go by and living a life of pain...........only two years when she was in her early twenties she had a strange reprieve, off and on, from the nausea, headaches, vomiting, etc... .....and we thought she might mysteriously be getting well...........suddenly she was hit again and with more force than the previous years, as she developed more symptoms and more pain than ever. No doctor in the US helped her although I took her to ones that were suppose to be the best......... we have heard IBS and spastic colon enough that I began envisioning the doctors' coats being made of "IBSIBSIBS " printed fabric!!!!!! The next day they wear the "SPASTICCOLONSPASTICCOLONSPASTICCOLON" fabric...........it is enough to make you go insane!!!!!! You feel so hopeless!!! We are geared to believe if you are sick the doctor gets you well.............I am no longer geared in that fashion and neither is Melissa...............Melissa had REALLY given up hope! I am glad to tell you that Dr. Kruschinski is human first and doctor second!! He saw the pain Melissa was in when we arrived in Germany and though she was suppose to sit and talk about her surgery, he told us to go to the apartment and rest and we would talk tomorrow............... You can read all about Dr. Kruschinski at http://www.EndoGyn.com . You should be able to find a list of contact people you can write and ask them about their experience! Melissa isn't the only one that has her life back......... .. I wish you the best!! I have a question....did your daughter had a "Minimally Invasive Surgery through laparoscopy or an open surgery?" The last surgeon I've seen last month was not the only surgeon that turned me down. They just don't do laparoscopic surgery to use laser to remove the adhesions. The last surgeon I have seen advise me to see if I can find a surgeon that does "Minimally Invasive Surgery", since they do not have this kind of procedure here in Nevada. I was told that 70-80 percent of the adhesions will not come back. I am willing to take my chances, I guess I am really desperate because of the pains I have been having for a long time. But the surgeon I'm going to see in California does not perform open surgery. I read his credentials before I called him and made an appointment. He specialize on Adhesiolysis, which he learned from Europe and Dallas, TX. Please, if you can share it with me what kind of procedures they did to your daughter, I will very much appreciate it. So then it will give me something to think about if I should go through with this or not. Again, Thank you so much Karen for replying on my message. Sincerely, Maria At Mon, 23 Jun 2003, Karen Steward wrote: >
