Hi Sherry, No doubt the adhesions cause abdominal pain. My daughter walked around all the time with her hands on her stomach prior to her surgery in Germany. I read your post from last night. If you are in an abusive relationship, please don't stay there! (I am hoping you are out of that situation). You deserve to live well.....life can be tough--as you well know........but you do not need that pain on top of adhesion pain! I hope you will take care of yourself......you are welcome to e mail me privately anytime. I wish you well!!! Hugs to you, Karen -------Original Message------- From: adhesions@adhesions.org Date: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 08:00:40 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ADHESIONS Subject: Re: IBS or adhesions? i suffer from adhesions and today i called my surgeon-got the nurse,of course, and asked if the adhesions could be causing my abdominal pain. have been told i have adhesions and scar tissue. my bowel movements are terrible-horrible pain. nurse told me to take stool softeners. didn't want to answer quesions about pain and adhesions. but i know better-just have to keep searching for the right doctor. sherry -----Original Message----- From: "Karen Steward" <kann@charter.net> To: "Multiple recipients of list ADHESIONS" <adhesions@mail.medispecialty com> Date: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 5:43 PM Subject: IBS or adhesions? -------Many doctors ignore or do not think adhesions are causing you problems. I took Melissa to countless doctors, especially gastro's and ob/gyn's.......not a one of them ever mentioned adhesions! When I would ask about endometriosis, I was told that was not her problem either. I had to figure it all out on my own. I finally ignored what the doctors were saying and just began researching. After all, she was still sick and we were just running around the same tree day in and day out, year end, year out....(upper/lower gi's, colonoscopies, etc). ....that was all that was ever offered.......oh yeah, they always offered an antidepressant too!!! Melissa was told over and over her pain was IBS...(this became the diagnosis after 6 or 7 different gastro's argued over Crohn's). I decided IBS stands for "I be sick"..........and it should be IBSATDDKW.... .. for "I be sick and the doctors don't know why" ........well, guess what.....since the adhesions are now gone.....Melissa no longer has IBS nor IBSATDDKW!!!! Dr. Kruschinski knew why she was sick! Adhesions......!!!!!!!! Maybe some people really have IBS and not IBSATDDKW-------maybe.........but if you're wondering if it is adhesions, I would keep searching......just as you are doing now! Best wishes to you, Karen
