1.) Becoming familiar with the subject.
2.) Seek a specific diagnosis before ever entering into any form of invasive therapy.
3.) Remember: There is no non-specific back pain, but there are non-specific doctors
4.) Find out if alternative non-invasive therapy is available.
5.) If ESI is recommended find out the nature of the injection and the steroid being used.
6.) Be more circumspect if an anesthesiologist is the procedurist.
