Re: Surgery to correct adhesions in non-emergency cases

Hi there, sounds like we are in very similar situations - I did have to have emergency surgery in December, right before xmas, for a total obstruction. I had a scare the other night, sure felt like a partial obstruction, but I maintained very high fluid intake, no solids at all, and was better the next morning. You are right - this is an AWFUL way to live, never knowing what may set the next obstruction off. I too live on mostly carbo's - they seem to be the easiest thing to digest.

I know that surgery in Germany would be a possible option, but I did read on their web site that even with their expertise and using the spraygel, unfortunately bowel obstructions can still reoccur - I think Dr. Reich said in the 30-37% range.

Just wanted you to know, you are not alone.
