My adhesions started after I had surgery for Regionalinteritis (Crohns) 20 years ago. At that time they had to remove 14 inches of my intestine. It took me 10 yrs before the ahesions caused an obstruction. When I came out of that first surgery, the Dr. couldn't beleive that I went that many yrs without pain or earlier obstructions. They were able to remove all adhesions without removing any more bowel. I have had 4 more additional adhesion caused obstruction surgeries and (luckily) no removal of bowel.
