Oh Karla.... my sweet friend,

I love you to bits!

Honey, it worries me not an ounce that I have to self-catheterise, thanks to you my friend I consider myself quite fortunate! No when I said to you I know you would understand this Karla, I was referring to the re-occurring bladder/kidney infections that require the use of antibiotics to get rid of the nasty little critters. When urine sits in the bladder for too long; that is one of the times that infections occur. Knowing that you have had years of trouble with infection and the problems you now face with little choice in which antibiotics can be used to help you fight off infections!!

I will admit shedding a few tears when I was first shown how to do this, but it does have it's advantages too.... I no longer have to worry about those horrid toilet seats in public facilities and I have learned how to keep everything "sterile" as I need to in order to complete this task.

It has improved my incontinency problems and also helped a little to reduce the pain I had to endure.... all in all I think the catheters are a small price to pay compared to some of the other things I need to do these days as well as some of the choices I am going to have to make at some point within the next year or so.

Thank you Karla for taking the time to write such a detailed email to me, I know how precious your energy and time on the computer is these days...

I miss you my friend and I hope that you will write to me again soon!

Love and warm gentle hugs, Jo
