"Anonymous", I am going to respond to this one.....you know me, I have to. First, let me say that it immediately flabbergasted me to read that someone might "own" our stories. Personally, I have my own opinion on this and I think that I am correct, but the most important issue here is to say that, yes, people did get upset and jump on the issue and Dr. Wiseman to a certain extent. But, when things were looked at...and I said it from the beginning...the warnings did not come from Tracy or Dr. Wiseman but an anonymous person. Karen has handled this very appropriately and for the most part so has everyone else. But, we cannot take away their rights to be angry over the thought that someone else might "own" our own personal stories. I find it hard to believe that this would not bother you to an extent as well. As far as magazines writing our stories and them having rights to them.....well, I've been there. When you are involved in magazine stories or television shows you are required to sign statements giving the magazine the rights to your story. We have not done that here. Dr. Wiseman and Tracy, I am in no way trying to cause problems here. I thank you for having provided us this site when there was no other available. Somehow, I suspect that you would agree with us in that our stories are our's alone. I understand the need to control the rights to information on this site and in no way am I trying to impede on your needs. In the past we have been asked by "agents" of the IAS to release our story for different reasons. I see Karen's request as being nothing more than a benefit to the IAS. Please allow her to continue to receive our stories from the quilt as she receives permission from each individual. I believe that Karen's campaign can be used to help us both.

First, a website has many of the same legal ramifications as any other publication such as a magazine. If you wrote a story and had it published in a magazine, they would own it, and it doesn't necessarily have to involve payment of any kind. Second, why is everyone immediately so angry without finding out the details? Why would this be your initial reaction after all this time? And third--and most important--why would you lash out at David Wiseman of all people? His tireless efforts have brought this site and this illness to the public. No one would be here reading this or any other message without him. And, yet, your first instinct is to criticize him for his efforts. I'm also shocked, but at the response of the members of the board.
