Dear Karla,
So glad you are home from the hospital, it is not a happy place to be. Also,
thank you for all the help you have given everyone with your expertise in SSI
and SSD!
I also had the nephrostomy stents and many bouts of urosepsis. They
eventually put in the port-a-cath due to poor venous access. After the
port-a-cath was in, I was on a low dose of antibiotics for almost 1 year to
prevent infection and give my poor kidneys a rest. They explained the pros
and cons of being on the antibiotic for an extended period and I chose to try
it. The outcome was, I didn't have any infection for that year and the
stents could come out. So far, they've been out for about 2 years and I
haven't had any more kidney infections. I was wondering if that would be an
option for you or not? If so, I wanted to let you know my experience with
the treatment.
Good luck to you. I'll keep you in my prayers.
In friendship,
Debby
