Jo, I am glad you are doing good and I hope every one that has the Spray Gel does well. Don't you remember around a year and a half ago there was another place that was suppose to be "the best" and there were so many people that went and hardly any one got rid of their adhesions? I am in worse shape!! I just don't want every one to get into this mode where they get stuck on getting themselves to Germany. I would love to have the surgery myself. Especially when I can't function and I have gone without sleeping for night after night. I am in a lot of pain and have lost 30 lbs in a couple of months. I just flew home today from flying across the U.S. to see a surgeon who uses the Sepra-film and from looking at my records he didn't think it would work for me.At least he was honest. He did mention the Spray Gel and said it does sound promising so hopefully I can wait it out and use it when it gets here if people will be honest about it helping them. Yes, I am very ill too and I have 3 children and a husband and every thing else in my life. From talking to this surgeon, he thinks the best thing for us all is the pain management route. Jo, I am very ill too, we all are. I can't hardly urinate either. I have to sleep sitting up. I can't eat a full meal. 30 lbs in two months. I went from leaking urine to it taking me about 10 minutes to urinate. But if I have to live with the adhesions and pain rather than go through surgery just to take the chance to have them come back again worse, I will live this way. The surgeon said an interesting thing to me which was, that some times after about 10 years of chronic pain, the nerve endings zap themselves out. Hi Kel,

You are absolutely right about wanting proof that SprayGel works.... I
used the same words exactly.... I wasn't planning to have surgery &
SprayGel certainly wasn't in my mind for consideration....I believe it
was fate for me... meant to be.

I was admitted to my local hospital when my pain became intolerable, all
my vital signs indicated the severe increase in pain: increased blood
pressure, to dangerous levels; increase pulse rate; increased
temperature; and lastlly my diabetes became unstable and hard to
manage....

I was in my local hospital for a week, then the following Monday I
travelled to Sydney and was admitted to hospital there under the care of
my Gyn Specialist, Dr Jason Abbott. Pain management was again set up
and we waited, we knew that I would probably require surgery before I
could go home, but when that would happen was unclear at that point.

Then, early Thursday morning Prof. Vancaillie, Jason Abbott and the
rest of the team came into my room to say there had been a cancellation
in the afternoon surgery list and they had decided that they would slip
me into the time slot!! They didn't even have any SprayGel kits at the
hospital!!

They contacted the company supplying it in Australia and ten kits were
rushed to the hospital, delivered by the Product Manager herself. I was
nervous, actually I was terrified, because there was no time to think, I
either agreed or I didn't... I trust my doctors and decided to go for
it. I can only say I am SOOOOO glad that I did!

The following few lines are the concluding statements about my
experience with SprayGel which is found on the homepage of The
Australian Adhesions Support Group, and Kelly, you will note that I do
say that we don't know the long term results yet:

It is now 22 days since surgery (Aug 1st 2002) and I still have no pain
from adhesions. I suspect I may have a few niggly ones on the lower
left side, but not enough to worry about or require pain meds to
control. It’s those niggly ones that you notice if you get up the wrong
way or turn over in bed too quickly. I do suffer discomfort because of
my bowel, and my bladder doesn’t always like having ANY urine in it. All
said and done I am very happy with my SprayGel™ experience and
contribute my quick recovery (until my bowel problem).

Hope for ARD sufferers by using SprayGel™

I believe we now have hope, BUT we should err on the side of caution, it
is still a new product and we have no idea how long any of us will
remain pain free. We all know the “animal” ARD can be and how we can be
suddenly struck down with excruciating pain and then have to fight with
health caregivers.

It is my hope and prayer that SprayGel™ will give us the gift of a
renewed exuberance and enjoyment of life. I will continue to include
updates on my progress and hope that all my ARD friends and sufferers
around the world get to find hope in what SprayGel™ is so far offering.

SprayGel… otherwise, how WILL we know it works?

Love & warm gentle hugs,
Jo
