Woman's Day and Adhesions

The most current issue of Woman's Day (9/1/2002) has a short article about adhesions in the Your Health section (page 26). It reads:

Scheduled for Pelvic Surgery?

Ask your doctor about a product that helps prevent adhesions, a problem that occurs in up to 90 percent of gynecologic surgeries. Adhesions are abnormal bands of scar tissue that can cause pelvic pain, infertility and bowel obstructions. Surgery can remove adhesions, but they often return. Experts say using Gynecare Intergel during surgery helps to prevent adhesions from forming in the first place.

I'm thrilled that the mainstream media, especially a widely circulated women's magazine, is finally acknowledging adhesions! However, I'm a little concerned that it gives Intergel a little more credit than it deserves. If only the article had been a longer and more in-depth treatment of adhesions and the problems they cause. But at least it's a start, which is good news for us.
