Dear Rita,

Yes the first surgery is at the patient's expense. I'm not sure if medical insurance will pay for the first procedure or not; so this is a question you will have to check out with your medical insurance.

According to Dr. Lyon's website, Confluent Surgical will be paying for the second look procedures. Confluent Surgical is very interested in the outcome at the time of the second look for those, who had SprayGel applied.

Half of the clinical trial patients will get SprayGel applied at the end of their initial or first surgery. The other half will NOT get SprayGel. None of the clinical trial participants will know if SprayGel was applied at the end of their first surgery or not.

I have heard wonderful things about the surgeries that Dr. Lyons performs. He is a very skilled and very experienced surgeon!! Those, who did NOT get SprayGel at the first surgery, will still have had the same quality of surgical procedure as those, who in the group that had SprayGel applied at the first surgery. Dr. Lyons is one of the top laparoscopic surgeons in the United States!!

Those who did NOT have SprayGel at their first surgery will have the opportunity to have SprayGel applied at the time of their second look. So if the SprayGel group proves to have excellent results, the non-SprayGel group will still be able to have SprayGel.

I hope I have answered your question.

Helen
