LOL....nice thought there! But, no, I didn't have any Gumby legs or anything....unfortunately, just pain. The anesthesiologist who placed the block was even nice enough to give me a ride to the airport so that I could catch my little plane home. There is where all the problems really were...just lifting my legs to get them into the plane...and then riding all cramped up. When I go down to Chicago I fly on small planes...as small as two seaters...so it can be quite crampy. I don't remember exactly, but I had to lie in the pain management office for a while before I could leave. Even so, I had all the pain. But there was another gentleman there who had the same thing done....he got up and left with no problems at all. So there is hope out there! Don't be discouraged by my problems....weigh your issues and then decide. Maybe I need to call and ask some questions. One of the reasons I want to get it besides the pain is that after I get it done, I will have the pessory reinserted then go back to the university hospital to see a Gyna-Urologist again to see if they can get the incontinence taken care of. I think the pessory presses against the vaginal adhesions. I am so sick of the pain!!! (I know every one is)I have this vision that after I get the spinal I will have those Gumby legs and walk like I am rubber woman.Kel Kel,

I, too, had two attempts with the blocks.....and for me the answer is NEVER AGAIN. But, as everyone has told you....that is me. It doesn't mean it won't work for you. I ended up having more pain...in fact I barely could walk for almost a week following the second block. They had troubles finding the correct spot and I had the pleasure of having the needle stuck into me several times. In addition, I noted no relief of my pain. It's all up to you. Whatever you do, we support you and wish the best for you.

Fortunately I have 2 very caring Gyno's working for me and this wonderful board to support. I was lead to the most caring Pain Management team I could ever imagine . They have tried a number of things and all was going well until for whatever reason I had an explosive pain spell and they had to scramble to find me releif but they did and I am taking Methadone of course we had to play with the dosage but finally got it and its wonderful. Now I'm not saying we won't have to change the dose again in the future but thats the advantage of having such a wonderful team working for you. ! I hope this helps. Of course remember Kel that sometimes what works for one doesn't for others and what doesn't work for some works for others. The block was not too painfu! l I was sedated and minor pain after but Nothing compared to the pain I already had. So don't be afraid to try it if It's offered to you. You never know It may work for you. Love and Best Wishes Lillian
