Dear Karen:
Usually once you have adhesions you will get them again if you have more
surgery. Unless you have an adhesiolysis done by a very skilled surgeon.
Some people do have them removed and never have any more problems. That,
unfortunately, is the unusual and not the norm. I have had my adhesions
removed three times so far. I am lucky in that all my procedures have been
laproscopic. All my adhesions keep coming back in the exact same spot as they
did before. No new ones are forming. Old ones just get tighter and tougher!
Read the adhesions quilt. Study the message boards. We all have similarities
as well as differences. No one person is the same. Secure all your operative
notes from any past surgeries. Learn your history. Educate yourself. If you
need help I am always available. I am not a doctor (yet), but I am a nursing
student and can help you understand your operatives. You may contact me
directly if you wish.
