HI Chrissy. SBS stands for Short Bowel Syndrome. I have had adhesions since 1993 and many bowel obstructions and my last surgery in 8/00 has left me w/only 4.5 feet of intetine and they had to take out the ileum which absorb the fats, dairy products, sugar and vitamins. I'm on diet for life, have diarreha (If I follow my diet 100%, I have 3 bowel movements a day).....It is amazing how many people out there are living w/adhesions but doctors aren't doing alot. Yes, I had to suffer a bit before the last surgery when someone would finally listen to me. I was told if I didn't have this surgery, I would surely died soon because my nutritions, blood work were all out of balance due to the adhesions wrapped around from the colon to the retrum. Keep in touch!
