Well, you know you NEVER think of these come-backs until AFTER the moment is past, but part of the function of this board is that we can at least share them with each other! Here goes:

"An MD saying that adhesions don't cause pain is like the tobacco companies saying that cigarettes don't cause cancer. Most adhesions are caused by medical malpractice, so of course doctors all want to claim that they don't do any harm."

Or there was this one that I posted back on Nov 26 under the title "A new use for dental floss":

I think that each time one of us has an appointment with a male doctor then we should bring along some string or a wad of dental floss. Then if by chance the doctor says some version of, "I don't believe that adhesions cause pain," then take the wad of string out of your pocket, stretch it out between your hands. Then say brightly and cheerfully, "Oh, then you won't mind if I tie this around your testicles and follow you about, giving a hard jerk every 3 to 5 seconds. Twenty-four hours a day. Seven days a week. For the rest of your life."

(Do those evil chuckles make you feel better? ;) )
