[] Regarding Intergel:

In some patients we have experienced abdominal pain after instillation of Intergel which we call peritoneal irritation. This is not a bacterial infection, but an inflammatory reaction to the substances of Intergel. We know from second look procedures that these patients have not developed more adhesions than others.

In case of bowel injury there seems to be an increased risk for bacterial peritoneal inflammation which increases also the risk for adhesions. In general, we have only little side effects of Intergel and very rare severe reactions.

So, even in patients with more pain after using Intergel, there are not more adhesions. Only in the rare cases of bacterial inflammation there can be more.
