Hi Patty, welcome to the board

I am sorry that you have endured 2 surgeries in a year, it is always tough on body, mind & soul.  I think you need to get some more opinions on your choices of treatment.  If you read the stories on the quilt, you will find that many of us have walked down the path you are on now.....we like to use our "retro scopes" to help people like you from following on to make the same nightmarish mistakes.

I understand how you feel about not wanting to live your life relying on pain medication, but really it may be a better option for the time being.  I would like to encourage you to research adhesions, ask lots of questions and do not accept one doctors opinion as the right one.  I have found that out the hard way, and the cost to me has been a change in pain yes, but not for the better, I can't sit, yes that's what you read, I can't sit for an hour without stirring up some truly nasty pain.

I am seeing a professor early next month who has an interest in adhesions and specialises in Laperascopic surgery (key hole), but that does not mean that I will immediately agree to more surgery.  Just in the last few weeks we have been shocked into action over the case of a UK ARD sufferer, her surgeon had recommended a "pelvic clearance", he intended to remove all her lower abdominal organs & hook her up to "bags" for the rest of her life, these bags would take the place of her bladder & bowel functions.  What shocked and concerned all of us was the desperation of this dear person, who was considering it as an option!

There is no 100% guarantee on relieving or stopping the painful return of adhesions.  It is sad to say that by the time people search for answers, they have already endured countless surgeries, each adding another complication and another layer of pain.  Please Patty, I urge you to read every bit of information on the IAS site, read our stories on the quilt and feel the relief that comes with knowing you are not alone and that knowledge is power, the power to shape your life and health in the future.

We offer friendship, support and understanding, anything goes, you can rant, rave and vent to your hearts content, we have all used this forum to do all of these things, and we help each other to cope, one day at a time.

Yours in friendship

Jo (Australia)
