STOP Shay from my experience you are WASTING your time at Emory. My GYN sent me to Ceana Nezhat. He is VERY familiar with adhesions, he is on staff at Northside Hospital. He is the ONLY one I found in Atlanta that wasn't dumbfounded by the word "adhesions"! I am sorry I don't have his number but you should be able to find it in an Atlanta listing: Ceana Nezhat, M.D. and my OB/Gyn is Ward Bordeaux and he is also on staff at Northside Hospital. Dr. Bordeaux is older and probably close to retirement but he is VERY current on women's health. I am not sure if he is taking any new patients but you may want to make an appointment with him. He will examine you and talk A LITTLE but he respects women enough to give you time to get dressed THEN he will talk in his office. I am not telling you that these two doctors have a magic wand or anything but I went through surgeries, suffered and looked long and hard to find these two doctors. If you have questions please don't hesitate to contact me, I read the first three lines of your message and had to respond QUICK! One of the reasons I say Emory would be a waste it my Internist sent me to a surgeon at Emory that he had gone to school with just to get a handle on how he and Emory were dealing with adhesions. My doctor (who I LOVE) was honest, he said I am not asking you to have surgery there but I think this surgeon can answer some questions I can't and you can get a feel for things. I did go and I did get a "feel", the doctor knew why I was there and he was nice and polite but his final statement was "I think you need to go to this specialist and that specialist and "we" at Emory realize adhesions "can" be a problem but we haven't found a reason for the "complaints" of pain associated with adhesions. Now some of these specialist may of been appropriate for some but I have been through PLENTY of "specialist" and that just wasn't what I was looking for.

Now be aware that Dr. Nezhat will want to see your medical records and he will have you go to another doctor (or two) and possibly keep a short term journal - he does what is necessary to rule out other things which will then lead him to the adhesions. For me I had no ovaries when I first went to him so he took me off my hormone replacement therapy for about four weeks and then took blood to see if I was producing any Estrogen. He did that for two reasons, one to rule out Ovarian Remnants (my mother died of ovarian cancer without ovaries)and two because I was having a lot of "phantom" pain from the normal location of ovaries. I was having a problem urinating so he also sent me to a Urologist which was no big deal really. I only tell you this so you will know how he works and that was okay with me, he doesn't want any "surprises" when he gets inside.

Again you may email me with any questions, comments whatever. I no longer live in the Atlanta area but continue to keep my physicians in Atlanta. Good Luck, Ann
