Marianne, The only way I can go if it is made very soft without form to it so I'm not sure what diarrhea is to you. I guess it is normal for me! I don't run all day if that's what you mean....after my morning coffee and on really good days sometimes after supper, but usually not. Any amount of temporary cramping or diarrhea was definitely worth getting relief of the constant pain and bloating in the end!!

MOM does absolutely nothing for me at all, no matter how much I take. In fact I took 2 Exlax the other day because I felt more constipated and had more gas than my normal due to eating cherries for some reason, and I had a hard time going even with Exlax. I "normally" take 10-12 Herblax every night, but thought the change might get it out better....NOT. I didn't know cherries would do that.....they also upset my ulcer so I guess they must have alot of acid which I didn't know!

The pain on the same side of the previous adhesions could cause pain up farther if they grew that far and attached to something up higher OR it could be from back-pressure of air or stool trapped down farther. I get allot of bloating and pressure under my left rib and always have but they say nothing is there so I am assuming it is my ulcer and hiatal hernia causing it. My lower abdomen feels fine, if only I didn't have this constipation problem, but after 30 years of it I know it is now from the laxative dependency and I have accepted that I Will never go without laxatives in this lifetime. I don't get an urge at all without laxatives.

I use to get the pulsating too....maybe from pressure on the artery I figured.

Don't listen to your doctor on the fiber business...they all tell you that and they are WRONG! With adhesions you need a soft diet instead. The fiber would give me intense bloating and pain as though a knife was passing through my intestines. However I haven't had that knife-like feeling since my last adhesion surgery. I would get the bloating with carbonation or allot of fiber etc. You will learn real fast what to avoid!!

Good Luck, JEAN

Didn't the lax give you diarrhea? milk of mag gave me diarrhea, they told me it was the gentlest...I ended up on pepto after that. What confuses me about this is the tightening in the abs...the pain under the ribs and the pulsating pain on my left side. I didn't feel these things till a few days ago. Why is that pain so high up? and in different locale from where the adhesion was cut...it is higer up...but on the same side? My PCP said to increase fiber to regulate me...I took in 21 gms. today and am bloated more than before...and the pain is worse. I've been trying to do stretches hoping to stretch out the scar tissue so, it'll stay loose...just, in case...Jean I read your story on the quilt....you are quite a survivor. Love.
