A intestinal fistula is a tract connecting two sites. It may be bowel to bowel, bowel to bladder, bowel to skin, bowel to vagina, bowel to rectum. It is not a hole in the intestine although there is a hole it in not just a hole there is also a tract connecting to something. If it is connecting bowel to bladder or vagina, there may be a release of air or possible feces. A recurrent bladder or vaginal infection may be sign of a fistula.

There are other signs but if you think you have one you should contact your doctor.
