Dear Lesa:

I have found that oxycontin helps me the most along with tylox, and does not leave me groggy or (out of it) at all and allows me to live a somewhat normal life with no spaciness or any side effects at all. It is a twelve hour timed release narcotic pain medication and works very well for chronic pain patients. With all the hoopa going around about oxycontin I don't know if doctors are afraid to prescribe it or not, but it seems to help most adhesion patients from what I've seen at the board. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has heard of this drug, but it is called actiq, and it is for breakthrough pain. It is a lollypop (oral transmucosal fentanl citrate 400 mcg) and when the pain is unbearable I suck on one of those and it usually always breaks the pain level in half. It is a fairly new drug, but works well.

Good luck to you.

In Friendship,

Helen C.
