Julie,

I had a vaginal hysterectomy and when I kept having problems, my gyn did a laparoscopy. He found more endometriosis, polycystic ovaries and adhesions. Now, with the other problems, I can't say that the vaginal hysterectomy caused the adhesions. But, you could have enough going on inside that you could get adhesions anyway.....any kind of inflammation can trigger them. I do know that I had 3.5 wonderful years without adhesion pain before an ER doctor refused to get another surgeon with experience with laparoscopy to do my appendectomy. That started it all over again!

I do know that my gyn is very experienced in dealing with adhesions. Once he used a barrier, another time he didn't and neither of us could tell much difference. I think things just moved around too much for the barriers to stay where they are needed. Others on the board have had barriers, maybe someone else has had better luck.

Good Luck! kcmo rose
