My aunt used to volunteer at the hospital in her town. She wanted to work with babies so they put her in the preemie ward. She would go regularly, but at her convenience, and love/hold the babies. Sing to them, rock them, etc. Preemies really need to be loved and touched by someone who can be gentle with them. They spend so much time in the incubators, and the nurses are too busy to stand around holding them. The parents hold them when they can, but there is a lot of time that no one is there to hold any of them. Maybe you would be interested in contacting your local hospital and doing this?
