Dear Sally:

Absolutely not. Infact, you gradually have to wean yourself from the narcotics, as per my pain specialist. You cannot stop suddenly. After surgery you take as needed, and as the pain lessens, so does your need to take the medication. Finally, you will find that your body will not need the narcotic when the pain subsides, unless you have become addicted, then medical advice would seem to be the course to take.

I was advised by my pain specialist which steps to take and which narcotics to start weaning myself from after the surgical pain stopped. Unfortunately, the pain never stopped, so I never stopped taking the narcotics.

Love ya,

Helen C.
