Oh Beth................

I'm sooo sorry that you have had two surgeries with no results. If you read some of the stories on the adhesions quilt, you will find that there are many of us who have similar stories to tell.

Well there are a number of us who post here regularly on the "recovery" list from various surgeries. Some of us have had specific operations to divide adhesions, while others have had organs removed or repaired. I had my ovaries taken out on the 9 April because they were diseased (endometriosis) and attached to my vagina, bladder, bowel & abdominal wall. My bowel was caught up in a number of places and had to be cut free from the adhesions.

The pain that I was experiencing before this surgery is gone, however I am now experiencing a new group of pains which to be honest are worse than what I was putting up with before. I saw my family doctor yesterday and she was quite pleased with my progress, and said that I should expect it to be at least another 6 months before I could really feel the benefits from this surgery.

My own observations from reading everyone's stories here, are that because we are prone to adhesions (some of us grow them better than others.....) there are really no guarantees. Each surgery should be carefully considered as well as all the consequences. The nature of these surgeries is usually quite serious and there is a lot of "work" done inside our bodies and can last any where from an hour to seven or eight!

So Beth from what I have seen here, not many actually become pain free forever. I know one special lady from Queensland here in Australia who is at this moment pain free after 30 surgeries, she is determined to remain that way.

I'll let you know in six months time how I am doing, I hope you find someone to help you soon.

Love, hugs & cheers, Jo
