[]] Legislative Alert! Managed Care Legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives: Notify Your Senators and Representatives Immediately!

HMOs have introduced a novel innovation in American Health care: incentives for physicians not to treat patients. If a medical practitioner practices less, the company makes more. Kind of like paying farmers not to grow crops. HMOs make money by not providing a product. The cost is pain and suffering which won't show up in a balance sheet. 100 years after Lincoln, we've found a new way to trade lives for money. It's called "Managed Care". And it's perfectly legal. Is it any wonder that managed care is the most rapidly growing industry in America, outpacing computers and cable TV?

Imagine -- something for nothing! Unbelievable? HMOs spend millions to see that you do believe it. If consumers realized that the product they're buying is smoke and mirrors with a dash of snake oil, the managed care companies would be out of business.

That is what these pages are all about. To educate you, the consumer. And to give you a chance to fight back for quality health care and the right to make your own medical decisions.

So look around. Make comments.
