The cats sound really sweet. You aren't old until you wear purple, blurt out strange things in public to no one in particular and smell like moth-balls. The cane is a good idea so you can whap people with it when they look at you funny. :)
I think you need a Shania too! Maybe she will appear on your doorstep one of these days? Cats have a way of picking their humans.
