>I too had a recocele and cystocele repair done 2/2000 I had both repaired vaginally although I no longer have the constant pressure from below. I never had bladder control problems, my prolapse was so bad it actually prevented me from passing urine effectively, I kept ignoring it because of my "issues" but I did have a horrible post op coarse of recovery. Just make sure that you are comfortable with you MD and their philosophy of pain control meshes with yours. I would hate for you to be in pain and have an md that doesn'e believe that you are. as for the rectocele. it was supposedly repaired, but i continue to have the same symptoms post op as i did preop. and i now have vaginal pain which i did not have before. The vaginal approach from my post op research is more likely to fail than the abdominal approach. I was not an eduacted consumer. in this appraoch an incision is made from the urethra back to the cervix and across just behind the urethr in a t shape they attach the fascia beneath the skin and take off any exess tissue and sew you back up. the reason the catheter is sometimes necessary is due to the inflamation to the areaa the urethra is swollen shut so to speak. good luck to you. dawn
