rectal pain

Good morning everyone. It's now 2:00 A.M., CST and I've just gone through the most horrific rectal pain I've ever had. For some reason it wakes me up in the middle of the night and lately, it not only radiates forward somewhere near the vaginal region, but to my left lower quadrant area and then down my left buttock and into the back of my thigh! This is the first time I finally broke down and took something for the pain. Thankfully it's working. I need sleep.

Has anyone by any chance experienced anything like this?

I've been to a colorectal surgeon referred by gyne who informed me in so many words that this is just rectal pain, that it's benign.

This time tonight, I'm scared. The fact that it is radiating is a new symptom which started last month and, it was horrible tonight. Also, during this pain, attempt at urination was interesting.

Can anyone relate to any of this?

Pain meds are making me sleepy and are doing their job. Going back to bed.

I am so thankful for this group. Knowing I have somewhere to turn to is tremendous relief in itself. I almost never contribute though. I hope that's o.k.

-Sue
