I had surgery in Scranton last month and I too am from Florida. I am in Cape Canaveral, where are you located?
I flew into Newark as I made plans to visit with my brother in NJ after the surgery. You can also fly into Philadelphia or Wilkes-Barre.
I stayed at the Clarion in Scranton (570-344-9811). They have a special rate of $60 per day for patients at Community Medical Center. You need to ask for the rate. Rooms have a small refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and 2 phones with data ports. Across the street is a drugstore, grocery store, laundry, pizza place, and ice-cream shop. It is about 1 mile from the hospital.
