Toni, The reason you can get diarrhea when you are impacted is because the impacted stool is just that - impacted, and sometimes the bowel tries to move the impacted stool, and as a result only diarrhea can sometimes get around an impaction. I know my husband must be tired of me with the bowel problems, but I can't help it. None of us asked for this, right? If you feel that bad, or are in too much pain, do not hesitate to tell him, and get help. Don't put it off. Please let me know how you are doing. Helen Dynda has something on here that tells you symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Feel better. Millie
