Hey Karen,

I'm glad I had at least one suggestion on something you could do. I don't know what help you will receive from your specialist, but has to be better than no help at all. I realize that narcotics can cause you great pain with constipation, and with a partial obstruction, that could be disastrous. I know that doesn't help you in the slightest when you are in so much agony. I am not a doctor of couse, but any obstruction that you have is not good. I was assume any distention would be from an obstruction. Not much help there am I? but I have not had this problem.

The medication in Australia is totally different product names, and I haven't tried a duragesic patch. Many of the people on the board have though, as I have read messages about it.

Please keep talking to us, as I know how frustrated it can be when you feel so alone with the pain.

Trace,

Thanks for the note, is a distention of the stomach and a gastric outlet obstruction a partial obstruction? Or what could it mean. And yes, I just finished emailind Dr. Redan and not sure what kind of hope he maybe since I am hiring him as my surgeon. I udnerstand he's not really big on narcotics either. I am really disturbed at all this at the minute.

I hope somewhere somehow, for 6 weeks til surgery someone can and will understand my plight. The nurse practitioner mentioned a duragesic patch, which I heard helps for almost 3 days. Have you had any success with that!

Explain what an gastric outlet obstruction means and why would my stomach be distended?

Thanks,

Karen
