Dear Liz, I am sorry to say that adhesion will neither show on a CT Scan or a MRI,unless the adhesions have distorted the internal organs by pulling them out of place. Sometimes you might see a cyst on the scans from the inflammatory process that goes on from adhesions or an organ like the appendix that has ruptured. One final note is that if the adhesions have caused a total bowel obstrustion that would show because there would be an abnormal uptake or a bulging of contrast in one section of the scan. I guess that this might be the best news to hear but it is the truth. Remember though, if a doctor is wanting you to have a CT Scan you need to follow his advise because there are other problems besides adhesions that can cause pain, bloating, constipation and or other stomach/bowel problems. Keep in touch with us Liz and let us know if we can help in any other ways OK!!
