As Richard said, you are having panic attacks. I take buspar for mine & hardly ever have them anymore. Before I got on medication, I would commonly have 5-10 a day. But when they got to 30 aday, I knew I needed help. Self talk is good, it worked for me. Just realize you are having the attack & breath. I used to have them in my sleep also. I think those were the worst. Once again, you find, you are not alone. Keep your chin up Robin
