Adhesions do make colonoscopy more difficult. However, if you are having bowel symptoms and pain, you should rule out colon cancer. Be sure that the gastroenterologist is skilled. My gastro uses a pediatric scope on me and puts me completely to sleep.
Colon cancer grows slowly. If you had a normal colonoscopy within 5 or even 10 years, it probably doesn't need to be repeated.
