Toni I went in to have that test. Some people were given meds so they didnt really go out, but, not in alot of pain/discomfort. I wasnt given anything, but they do spray stuff in your throat & you have to snort stuff to numb you nasal passage. Well, they couldnt do the test on me because I have such a synsative gag reflex. I ended up drinking the stuff they would have but in through the tube. That is when they found out that my slow intestines werent working right. They were hardly working at all. My PCP gave me a prescription forMetoclopramide 10mg tables, 3-4 times a day before eating. It has greatly reduced my pain. It was surprizing to find out how much pain was just from my intestines not working. Now, I am having bowel movements with out having to take laxatives & stuff. Maybe you can talk to your dr about that med to see if he thhinks it might help you. Best of Luck Robin
